When you are ready to make a move, Williams & Roberts can
help. After law school, passing the bar and waiting the required 6-8
years to become a partner, we sometimes
find we are still not satisfied, either professionally or financially.
Firms changenew management, new thinking. Whatever the reason,
everyone goes through periods in their career when they wonder whether
to stay or go. It's inevitable. The right recruiter can give you the
opportunity to discretely explore and inquire about
opportunities with other firms.
There is usually a concern on the attorneys' part relative to confidentiality.
They do not want their firm thinking that they are out looking
for other opportunities.
We address that concern two ways:
- Making sure the managing partner of the hiring firm understands
and agrees to the need for confidentiality, particularly
when they feel it is necessary to share the Curriculum Vitae (CV)
with a practice leader. We emphasize their responsibility to insure
the candidate's inquiry is handled discretely at every level.*
*Actual paragraph from Williams and Roberts' "Understanding
and Agreement" that is signed and agreed to by the hiring
firm:
To facilitate
a search process for qualified attorneys to join your firm, all
parties who have a need to review a candidates’ CV must
treat their inquiry confidentially & discretely. It is important
that anyone involved in this review process, protect the candidates'
identity and not acknowledge his inquiry, especially if the firm
decides not to extend an offer.
We've never had a problem.
- For the initial inquiry, we can give the Managing Partner a thumbnail
synopsis of attorneys' credentials/experience without divulging
their name or firm. That is usually enough for a Managing Partner
to decide whether they would like to meet with the attorney. This
way we can get back to the attorney and disclose who the client
is and what we know about the opportunity. This gives the attorney
the ability to inquire, protecting their identity until they decide
whether to pursue the opportunity.
We never send your CV out to a firm without your permission! Ever!
Remember the recruiter is working for the client firm that pays his
fee to find quality, experienced attorneys whom would be an asset
to their firm. In today's legal market, competition for quality attorneys
is intense. With your credentials and expertise, we can help you find
the perfect match.
Generally, most attorney's interests and goals are similar:
• Professional and personal growth
• Collegial atmosphere
• Team player mentalitypromoting cross-selling
• Client driven
• Time for family and personal enjoyment
Our success depends on match-making. We match the needs and
desires of the attorneys to the right firm.
A perfect match means:
• The firm represents and offers what you need and desire
• You represent and offer what the firm needs and desires
We called you because you matched the profile we were looking
for. We can be your agent…all stars have them…Tiger, Kobe,
Mike ,Shaq, to name few. We will guide you through the process.
In order to facilitate a match, two parties must eventually meet.
We insure confidentiality of both parties starting with the
initial inquiry through the acceptance of an offer.
A hiring Managing Partner expects to review an attorney's CV. It
sets forth the attorney's credentials, background and
experience. Frequently, an attorney that has practiced for 10-15
years has not updated their CV, but usually maintains a current biography
on his current firm's website. If you e-mail us permission to use
your firm bio for profiling purposes, we can use it for a confidential
inquiry. This also establishes a relationship between you and us.
We always treat inquiries on your behalf discretely and confidentially.
A perfect match can only be accomplished when both parties' desires
are met.
